WHOOPASS CHEVY MONZA

The Monza arrived early 2005 to both compete in the National Championships and be put to work as one of the PMR Drag Race School cars. Pre-PMR, Ashley Bell ran this car successfully in Super Comp and Super Gas and before him this was the ex-Dave Mingay Hell Raiser Pro Mod.

Running down to 9.0 seconds for the 1/4 mile, The Whoopass has become a firm favourite at PMR due to it's pin-straight launch and smooth ride. The Monza currently has a 477ci Big Block Chevy engine under the hood which produces around 700hp+.

Following a comprehensive restoration, the Monza is now sporting an eye-watering bright orange paint-scheme - sun-glasses all round at PMR! Expect to see a lot more from this car during 2007, she's getting faster with every pass.

BODYSHELL

Original steel throughout shell & floor, fibreglass front and bonnet, tubbed to accommodate Rear slicks, with trans tunnel enlarged for access. Chassis Builder - Andy Robinson Race Cars, restoration work by Drag Race Engineering.

Oldsmobile Pro Mod rear axle, 4.56:1

SUSPENSION

Leda Front upright macpherson strut, with travel limiters 400lb Springs, full height & press adjusters. Rears Leda uprights fully adjustable again, 4-link axle Location & preload adjustment based around the IC (Instant Centre) of the Chassis.

 

TRANSMISSION

Based on Powerglide 2 - Speed Automatic (casing is The only original bit) Fitted with a TCI full competition Conversion & Pro tree Transbrake, SFI Certified Flexplate & Transmission Shields.

JW Performance Transmissions super class 8" convertor

477ci Big-Block Chevy, LS6 4-bolt main block, Dart Aluminum 320cc heads, BLP alcohol carburettor

 

IGNITION

MSD 7AL with 2-Stage Limiter(launch control & Top End) MSD Pro Coil, Unilite Distributor with Ignitor Magnetic trigger fitted.

 

FUEL SYSTEM

Electric fuel pump, rear mounted fuel cell (6 gallon)
