GRUMPY'S DODGE

Grumpy's Dodge is one of the longest serving and most popular cars on the UK drag racing circuit. Previously campaigned by Paul 'Grumpy' Watson, not only is this car competitive in Super Street, Pro ET and Super Gas, it is once of the school cars that members of the public are taught to drive in or blasted down the track for the ride of their lives during numerous weekends every year.

This has got to be the hardest working car in UK drag racing, completing over 250 passes every year

New for 2006 were a series of changes designed to make Grumpy more responsive and quicker on the track.

Tubular Spaceframe built to Current SPRC & NHRA Spec.

 

BODYSHELL

Original steel throughout shell & floor, fibreglass Boot, Doors, and Bonnet, tubbed to accommodate Rear slicks, with trans tunnel enlarged for access. Chassis Builder :- Hauser Racecar Chassis & JMW Automotive.

 

AXLE

Chrysler 8 ¾" Factory unit 4.88 - 1 Ratio, spool, 31 spline Strange eng shafts, narrowed,braced & strengthened.

 

BRAKE SYSTEM

Aerospace Components front & rear disc brakes fitted with line-lock system for launch

 

WHEELS & TYRES

Weld Prostars front & rear with Hoosier rear slicks & front runners

 

SUSPENSION

Leda Front upright macpherson strut, with travel limiters 400lb Springs, full height & press adjusters. Rears Leda uprights fully adjustable again, 4-link axle Location & preload adjustment based around the IC (Instant Centre) of the Chassis.

 

TRANSMISSION

Based on Powerglide 2 - Speed Automatic (casing is The only original bit) Fitted with a TCI full competition Conversion & Pro tree Transbrake, SFI Certified Flexplate & Transmission Shields.

JW Performance Transmissions super class 8" convertor

 

ENGINE

454ci Big-Block Chevy, LS6 4-bolt main block, Dart Aluminum 320cc heads, BLP alcohol carburettor

 

IGNITION

MSD 7AL with 2-Stage Limiter(launch control & Top End) MSD Pro Coil, Unilite Distributor with Ignitor Magnetic trigger fitted.

 

FUEL SYSTEM

BLP crank-driven pump, front mounted fuel cell (6 gallon)
